On Jan 28, 2020, Khair team had a meeting with the township and presented drawings of the proposed floor plan. The township will review these floor plans and inshaAllah will approve them. We are planning to apply for a building permit by the end of February, 2020 inshaAllah. To view the floor plans, please click here for first floor and click here for mezzanine level.
Interim Community and Prayer Space Relocation
To accommodate for growing needs of our community, IQRA Institute has recently moved to a new location as of Jan 1st, 2020! Address is listed below:
2490 General Armistead Ave.
Suite 304
West Norriton, PA 19403
This is a much larger space of approximately 4600 sq ft and will not only be able to accommodate more people for community events and activities, but will also provide more classroom space for the number of academy programs running for the community by IQRA. The first Jummah prayer at this location will be held on Jan 3, 2020 inshaAllah. We will continue to utilize this space for daily prayers, Jummah, Ramadan activities, and community events until completion of Phase 1 of the Khair building on Egypt Road.
Khair Phase 1 Building Progress:
We have engaged a local architect and engineer to complete the construction drawings required for our Phase 1 building permit. The drawings are anticipated to be completed by February 2020 and we will file for a building permit that month, inshaAllah.
Once our building permit is approved by the township, we will be ready to break ground inshaAllah. We estimate to break ground in the second quarter of 2020, insha’Allah. Construction timeline is estimated to be 12 months from breaking ground, inshaAllah. Fundraisers will be planned to collect funds the foundation/steel/framing/etc. Stay tuned for further updates, inshaAllah.
Modular Space Option Update
In Ramadan 2019, the Khair community was informed at our annual Ramadan fundraising dinner about plans to install a temporary modular building on the Egypt Rd site, based on the analysis of the options and current needs presented to the community.
Once we submitted our proposal to the township, they began to require things the township did not communicate to us early on (such as having to go back to the zoning hearing board, as well as other requirements for the modular structure. Due to this hurdle, we submitted an alternative proposal to the township (a Phase 1 permanent building functioning as prayer space, classrooms, and some other auxiliary uses.). The township accepted the proposal without requiring us to go back to the zoning hearing board. Based on the this information and looking at all our available options, it was decided to abandon the modular space option and instead focus on the building permit to the township for construction of the Phase 1 permanent structure.
The architecture and engineering process of the Phase 1 building is underway and we will keep the community updated as we move through this process.
